Project Selection - My Decision

The project I have decided do is the magazine project. I think this project best fits me because I feel as though I am more creative when it comes to expressing my thoughts through text than speaking physically to a camera. I am passionate about taking photos as well. When making this magazine I will be doing some research on the best ways to construct the magazine. The main determining factors for my decision are because of my writing skills, which I think will suit me best. A brief description of my magazine would be that it is a comedy magazine. The magazine may include funny things that have occurred at our school, or may talk about peoples lives with people who attend Sarasota High School. I am hoping to work in a group or a partnership with Grayson from a different period. The skills he has that will make this magazine better are his humor, communicating skills, photography, and creativity.

Project Selection - Film

Some aspects of film production that have interested me based off of my experiences and what I have learned in class are photography and seeing how different camera angles make the film layout more interesting. After watching the film Ferris Bueller's Day Off in class, I noticed the different camera angles and shots when the setting or mood changes. Some skills I possess that I think would make the film project a good fit for me would be my flexible creativity, written and visual storytelling, and communication skills.

Project Selection - Magazine

Some aspects of print journalism that interest me based on my experiences are seeing different perspectives of people. When I read magazines, I can visualize what I am reading. With journalism, I can focus on many perspectives of peoples point of views. In the television show The Newsroom, many different new channels have formed their own biased opinion on different topics. This shows how in journalism, you don't need to have the same opinion as anyone else. In class, I had read up on a home design magazine. The aspects of this magazine were full of vibrant colors and words that made the reader want to read more. Some skills I possess that I believe would make the magazine project a good fit for me would be my typing skills. Another skill I have for this project would be my editing skills and my ability to layout the design of the magazine. Editing skills would be a big part of the project because, when making a magazine, you would want yours to stand out from the rest of the magazines so people would want to read yours. Lastly, a good skill I that I have is excellent written communication skills. This project, however, might be a challenge for me because I have never made my own magazine.
